2014 Valley of the Moon Pinot Noir, Carneros

Enjoy soft notes of strawberry and cherry on the nose, with a lightly spiced, sweet cherry entry. The mid-palate is accented with cinnamon stick and toasted oak. The finish is well-balanced, supple and exquisitely smooth. This Pinot is delicious and pairs well with most meals.

92 Points -  June 2017

Situated south of Napa and Sonoma, and just north of the San Pablo Bay, the renowned Carneros appellation is directly influenced by the fog and cool breezes that come off of the Bay. This cooling effect results in Carneros being much cooler than its northern neighbors, Napa and Sonoma, and an ideal location for cooler climate varietals like Pinot Noir. Our 2014 Pinot Noir is comprised of Clones 115, 2A , 667 and Pommard; this variety allows us to capture the more elegant side of a traditionally "finnicky" varietal. It pairs well with most foods and also stands alone as a delicious glass of wine to enjoy with friends.

Valley of the Moon wines are produced by Madrone Estate Winery, one of Sonoma Valley's oldest and most historic winery estates. Originally founded in 1863, the Stewart Family purchased the estate - then named Valley of the Moon - in 2012 and completed a renovation to focus on estate-driven, small lot wines from the historic property. Valley of the Moon wines honor an important 75-year era when Italian proprietors Enrico Domenici and Henry Parducci grew grapes and made wines at the estate. Valley of the Moon wines are available nationally in restaurants and wine stores.
